PlanIt Win - Nyoka places third at UVic Innovation Centre's Business Plan Competition

Nyoka wins third at PlanIt, the UVic Innovation Centre's business plan competition!!

This adjudicated competition judged applicant's on their business plan, idea, and ability to pitch to a panel of judges from across the country, who represented a variety of business and research interests.
The adjudicated process required submission of a 10 page business plan, from which 8 applicants were selected for the next round. The final 8 contestants stood in front of the judges panel and presented their plan -  which consisted of a 15 minute pitch and a 10 minute Q&A session.
The contestants were judged by:

  • Rob Bennett,  COO VIATEC
  • Scott Butler,  President HighStreet Ventures
  • Mary McFarland, Industrial Technology Advisor IRAP –NRC
  • Marilyn Wilson, Senior Manger Small Business Banking at Coast Capital Savings
  • Dr. Melanie Rudolph, Entrepreneur

It was amazing to see that every winning entry heavily focused on sustainability. This whole journey has reminded us of the 'real' human people behind business. Most are pretty awesome and care a TON about their work - whether that's making electric bikes more accessible, bringing people together through boundary-dissolving games, or improving local infrastructure to manage compost more efficiently. Just wow.

We're feeling pretty proud to be included in this incredible cohort of PlanIt winners. #gonyoka!
